Latife Akyüz has a Phd degree on “Etnicity and Gender Dynamics of Living on Borderlands: The Case of Turkey-Georgia Border” from METU. She has worked as a lecturer at Indiana University (USA), Binghamton University (USA) and University of Liege (Belgium). Her research interests includes ethnic groups living near borders and gender studies. She is one of the editors of Toplum ve Bilim (Society and Science) magazine special issue “Borders and Border Conflicts in Turkey”. She has been working as a assistant professor at Düzce University Department of Sociology in 2014. She has been suspended from university on the pretext that she has signed “Academics for Peace Declaration” and demanded peace.
